These beautiful batik fabrics have been sourced directly from a small workshop in Java that we have had the pleasure of visiting several times. The fabrics are fairly traded, with the workers being paid a living wage.

About Our Batik Fabric

The origins of batik are hotly debated, but it's safe to say that Java, where we source our batik textiles from, has been at the forefront of batik making for centuries. The workshops we source our batik fabrics from are home to some seriously talented individuals, batiking exclusively by hand using wooden and copper caps (or tjaps) and cantings to create some of the highest quality modern batik in the world.
