Our beautiful plain hemp fabrics are sourced from Thailand, and are available in fine, medium and heavyweight. These 100% hemp fabrics are versatile, colourful and eco-friendly - did you know that hemp plants sequester carbon super effectively?!

Our narrow hemp fabric is handwoven on village looms by H’mong women, and only comes in its undyed natural form. Our wide hemp fabrics are smooth, machine woven and suitable for a multitude of uses: upholstery, dressmaking or quilting. The heavyweight hemp is particularly great for upholstery as it really holds its shape.

Can I use hemp fabric for dressmaking?

Yes - our wide hemp fabric makes a great alternative to linen. Use our fine weight hemp for garments which require a bit more drape, like skirts, dresses, blouses etc. Our medium weight hemp fabric is great for trousers, dungarees and shirts; and the heavyweight hemp could be used for more structured items like jackets and coats.

Can hemp fabric be dyed?

Yes, it can be dyed as you would dye cotton. The lighter colours also work well for batik projects using our batik wax mix and procion cold water dyes.
