Using cold water procion dye for batik.

Procion dye is a type of cold water fibre reactive dye that is ideal for batik, shibori and tie dye. A little of this dye powder goes a very long way.

Procion MX dyes can be used as dip dyes, or as watercolour fabric paints. The dyes can be mixed with each other to give a very wide range of colours, and the navy or black dye is an excellent way to darken any colour.

Soda ash is used to fix the dyes, which is very important if you intend to batik onto fabrics which will be washed.
