Plain fabrics ideal for batiking, tie dye, dyeing and printing techniques.

Perfectly smooth white cotton (called "Primissima") from Java is tailor made for batik. It doesn't need any preparation.

The hand woven hemp is great for the start of a stitching or dyeing project. If you would like a wide smooth, machine woven hemp fabric, you can find it on our Hemp Fabric page

And we now have six different hemmed and fringed scarves ideal for dyeing, shibori, batik or printing. These are in varying weights of pure cotton and a cotton and linen mix. The hems are all sewn in a natural (non synthetic) thread.

Fine cotton scarf

This unbleached fine cotton scarf is perfect for batik, shibori and any other dyeing techniques.

The cotton is handmade in Chiang Mai in northern Thailand, a region famous for it's quality cotton.

The scarf has a pattern of small random lines in the weave.

It has a fringe at both ends and measures 36 cms wide x 180 cms long (excluding fringes)

Wide rayon scarf

This wide creamy ivory coloured scarf is made of natural plant cellulose rayon. Rayon is very useful for dyeing and batik as it takes cold water dyes and natural dyes very well.

The scarf has an open weave texture and is a shawl width (65 cms or 26 inches)

It is 185 cms (6 feet) long with twisted fringes at each end

New in stock! some top quality smoothly woven 100% natural hand woven hemp fabric. All handwoven by H'mong hilltribe women in the northern part of Thailand. A natural pale oatmeal colour.

Approx: 36 cms. wide.

This is a totally natural product which has been woven on a small loom and is very good for dyeing, batiking or stitching into.
