Hilltribe batik - Traditional Indigo design #6

Hilltribe batik fabric, design #7 (see close up picture for design).

These narrow rolls of hand woven indigo dyed cotton are made in the H'mong village of Mae Sa Mai, near Chiang Mai in Thailand.

The fabric is wax batiked by hand using small copper stamps and then dyed with a natural plant indigo which is grown in the village. We have a wonderful array of various designs similar to the ones shown.

This fabric is sold by the metre and are approx 37 cms. wide. A whole roll is 5 metres long

Hand Dyed Moon Print Fabric - Rough Texture

Hand dyed moon print bamboo fabric sourced from a small producer called Pii Md in Northern Thailand. We stock two versions of this design - this one is a coarser weave with an almost waffle-like texture.

Pii uses natural dyes such as ebony, indigo, marigold flowers, mango leaves and rosewood to create tonal layers in this natural bamboo fabric. You can see more about his process here.

A heavyweight, cotton fabric suitable for upholstery, jackets and more structured garments.

The width of the fabric is 112cm - for context, the diametre of the moons is approx. 13cm

Pure Indigo dyed cotton

A rich deep blue medium to heavy weight cotton fabric dyed in natural indigo. It is known as "Chiang Mai mor hom" - indigo from Chiang Mai (a region of northern Thailand).

This fabric is suitable for clothes, cushions, and furnishings.  Some blue will rub off at first use. Wash well in warm water with some salt to remove the excess indigo.

Part of the beauty of natural indigo are the wabi sabi imperfections in the dye as you can see in the photos.

This fabric is sold by the metre.

This cotton fabric is printed and indigo dyed in Northern Thailand for the Japanese market.

This fabric is a fairly stiff medium weight and is suitable for jackets, garments, cushions, curtains, and upholstery.

Indigo and turquoise hand woven ikat

A lovely thicker weight hand woven cotton fabric in shades of indigo blue and a beautiful subtle turquoise colour. From Chiang Mai Province, northern Thailand.

Suitable for making clothes, curtains, cushion covers etc.

Width approx 94 cms.(37 inches) 

NB There is a small hole at every metre about a centimetre in from the edge on one side. This is done during weaving to keep the measurement.

Made for the Japanese market, this fabric would make lovely clothes including jackets or could be used for upholstery in curtains, cushions etc.

A soft, lightweight indigo fabric from Northern Thailand featuring a woven check design with a faded, almost stonewashed appearance. We have two slightly different variations of this - you can see the other here.
