A beautiful, plant-dyed, hand woven cotton warp ikat piece from eastern Sumba. Faded indigo blues and mengkudu (morinda citrifolia) reds.
Very finely made tied and dyed designs of Sumba village life with animals including bulls, cockerels, butterflies and great winged beasts! At least 50 years old.
Size: 3 metres x 1.35 metres (excluding fringes)
