A wonderful piece of fabric made in Phrae in northern Thailand. This area is famous for the indigo grown there and the traditional indigo garments made for rice farmers. Indigo is called "mah hom" in Thailand.
The design is stamped out in beeswax using teak wooden stamps and then dyed in natural plant indigo. The wax is washed in very hot water to remove it and the lovely blue and white fabric is revealed.
